Confirmation!!!!!!!

Bioshock movie rumor has been confirmed!!!!!!!

It will be directed by Gore Verbinski, the same guy who did all the Pirates of the Caribbean movies (drool!) No release dates have been set yet, but the script is being written as we speak! OMG!!! (It’s taking all that I have to stop from jumping up and down!!) The game is one of the coolest games I’ve ever played. Verbinski says that the movie most likely will be rated “R” because he intends to wow the core audience (and I’d like to consider myself part of that core audience…I’m watching you Gore, I’m watching you). Perfect director choice for this project, I think. I’m waiting to be wowed…

Here’s the trailer for the GAME. It’s incredible, so  I can’t wait for the trailer for the movie!

There has been a lot of stuff floating around concerning Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA IV). In my opinion, unlike movies, video games are not only awesome, but necessary. GTA III was the coolest game. San Andreas rocked my socks. And no IV? It’s going to be EPIC.

Now, how does this pertain to movies you ask. Well, they’re saying that the April 29th release will take away from movie premiers and DVD releases.

Paramount-Marvel’s “Iron Man” opens May 2, only three days after the “GTA IV” bow. Though they’re targeting the same audience, most pundits feel players will take time out from their game to see the superhero film. But the ripple effect on other films throughout the summer could be a factor — and the effect on TV could be immediate. -Variety

Okay, so here’s my idea: “STOP MAKING MOVIES THAT SUCK!”

I’m sure the demographic plus some would rather play GTA IV-or any other game for that matter-than watch 27 Dresses or the Diving Bell and the Butterfly which are scheduled to be released the same week. I’m nearly positive that the release of GTA IV will NOT take away box offices sales for Iron Man which will be in theaters May 2nd. It looks awesome, by the way.

You be the judge.

The animation wars in my head.

10 04 2008

It’s safe to say, in my opinion anyway, that Dreamworks has far surpassed that of Disney/Pixar within the past few years. Remember, this is coming from a girl who dreamed of being the Disney princesses. I still cry after almost every single one, and I must leave the room when Mufasa takes a dive. Yes…that’s me. But recently, everything just seems to be falling flat from Disney.

Dreamworks has saved my taste for animation. Though I’m a doomcrier when it comes to sequels, and even worst, the trilogy, Shrek the Third was an epic movie and I think was the best of all three. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Bee Movie (I haven’t seen it myself yet, but it’s on my list of things to do). Over the Hedge was amazing and had a good message. And now we have Kung Fu Panda, in theaters June 6, 2008. At first glance, it looks ridiculously stupid, but after some consideration, I’ve decided it looks really funny. I especially love the spoof of Kill Bill music in one of the trailers. Jack Black is the voice for the Panda, a fat one at that. And who wouldn’t want to watch a cuddly fat panda (sorry, I just HAD to throw that link in there) do Kung Fu?

And what to we have to look forward to from Disney? Wall-E? I did say it looks cute and funny, which it does, and I haven’t changed my mind. And Cars 2? Maybe? Come on Disney, step your game up!

Disney’s at it again…

10 04 2008

Disney released plans on a few highly anticipated movies yesterday.

  • Wall-E June 27, 2008
This looks absolutely adorable. Sci-fi cartoons. Slapstick comedy. It just may be what I needed from Disney. Way to go guys.
  • Toy Story 3 June 18, 2010
As of right now, Tim Allen and Tom Hanks will return as Buzz and Woody (otherwise, I honeslty think it would be a waste of time to even write the script. I really did like Toy Story 2, so this movie has possible potential.
  • Cars 2. Summer 2012
I’m not sure how I feel about this. There isn’t a lot of stuff out there that sounds reliable to me, so we’ll see. Hopefully most of the original cast returns to this film as well.

Special effects? Who needs ‘em.

4 04 2008

According to FirstShowing Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is going to have minimalist take on CGI and and effect shot (less than 30% is the Spielberg estimate…in fact, most of it, he says, is to remove safety wires and other things that didn’t belong in the shot) and very litte greenscreen to boot.

This gets me excited all over again because it’s going “back to it’s roots.” Not many cheesy explosions or ridiculous special effects. Awesome. Maybe it won’t be so bad after all…

And besides, Harrison Ford is hot, at any age…

Here’s something to cheer me up…

19 03 2008

Like in any good fairy tale just as soon as I was about to lose all hope (today I found news, old news, but new to me, that Terminator 4 will be released sometime in 2009) I stumble along something that I am reasonably excited for. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Undead. Now, I know…it sounds like a cheap knock off, but it’s not! Watch the trailer if you don’t believe me. Here we have two of the greatest things on earth: Shakespeare (Halmlet to be exact) and Vampires. Can we say “heaven” class? Because that is what this is. For me, anyway.

From what I got from reading around is it’s about a guy who gets the chance to direct an off-Broadway version of Hamlet that was written (surprise!) by a vampire. Turns out that the play is cursed and anyone involved with it dies or becomes a vampire. (I always knew Shakespeare had a few more cards up his sleeve)

The movie looks to be jam packed with hot guys and gorgeous vampires. Oh, and Hamlet. I really don’t think I could ask for more. Finally something fresh that isn’t a sequel. This film doesn’t have an exact release date yet, but it should be out sometime this year. It is also classified under Comedy and Horror (two things that should always go hand in hand!) and is not rated yet.

From feeling absolutely hopeless in the film to being this excited about something really brightens my day. Smiles anyone? :)

The Coreys Strike Back.

18 03 2008

So, when I started up this blog, I thought that I was going to get more and more excited about what is going on in Hollywood right now. Boy was I wrong. Instead, the more I delve into the current, up and coming films the more and more I get depressed. Seriously…

With that said, I found that sometime in 2008 (the exact date hasn’t been  released yet but ComingSoon states that it is coming straight to DVD (thank GOODNESS)) there will be a sequel to The Lost Boys called Lost Boys: The Tribe. (The link is to the trailer, found on MTV.com) The only redeeming quality that I can see in this atrocity is that The Coreys are going to be acting in it.

I’m a self-proclaimed classic movie nut, and a self-proclaimed Vampire fanatic. The Lost Boys certainly satisfies both of these interests tenfold. It’s a really, really good movie, chock full of sweet dogs, blood, cool music and on top of that, it is deliciously 80’s. Why in anyone’s holy name would you make a sequel to perfection?

In today’s world of sequels and remakes I’m begging for something new and fresh. Where are the Clockwork Oranges  of today? Where are the movies that require some actual talent? I watched No Country for Old Men, which won Best Picture at the Academy Awards this year. Even that was pretty much a disappointment. It took forever to get started (when it did get interesting it was good) and then the end…I mean, pardon my IM jargon, but WTF? Can you even call that an ending? I’m all about the obscure endings too…geesh.

Anyway, that got a little off topic, but seriously. I want something new. Not The Lost Boys II. Not Indiana Jones IV (although, I’m super excited in spite of myself) but something completely NEW! Is that even possible?

Gosh, I hope so.

Do not pass go, do not collect $200

9 03 2008

I’m clicking around and again am hit by a very…confusing…rumor. The board game (lame enough already, I know. But just wait…) MONOPOLY is going to be a feature length film. I’ll say it again. Monoply…that game that you played with your friends for hours and hours and hours and then got bored and STILL didn’t know who won is going to become a movie. Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not crying lame because it’s a bored game. We all know that Clue, and amazing game AND good movie but come on. At least that game has a built in plot right in the instructions. But Monopoly? How can there possibly be a plot line to that? There isn’t much talk about what that plot is going to be yet (of course I’m going to keep my nose to the ground) but they have released the director for the film.

You’ll never believe me.

Ridley Scott. Yes. Mr. Alien himself, along with Gladiator, Hannibal and Black Hawk Down. Does this make any sense to anyone? Because it doesn’t to me. I can see it now. The good ol’ Monopoly guy kicks some supernatural ass with lots of blood and gore to go along with it. And remember, he always gets out of jail free. And in his spare time, he wins beauty pagents.

The madness may not stop with Monopoly the Movie. I found here that Hasbro and Universal Studios may have a contract to do Battleship, Ouji and Candyland. My heart is crying out. Have we really hit that far down in the barrel of ideas?

I hope not my friends, I really hope not.

I found one…

9 03 2008

I found the teaser for Tropical Thunder here. My opinion from the last blog remains the same…I’m not sure what to think.

Completely offensive or absolutely…hilarious?

6 03 2008

Robert Downey Jr. has been cast as a black man. Yes, you read that correctly: an African American. The movie, Tropical Thunder, directed by Ben Stiller, is a satiracal film about a film about a modern day Apocalypse Now whose writers and directors get fed up with the cast and ditches them in the jungle to fend for themselves. The three guys, Jack Black, Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr. have no idea what is going on. Rumor also has it that Tom Cruise is going to make a cameo in a fat suit.

So, let’s recap. Tom Cruise not taking himself seriously? Awesome. Ben Stiller directing another movie (let us remember Zoolander-for those of you who cannot see me, which hopefully is all of you :o, I’m trying to supress a shudder) a spoof on Apocalypse Now and Robert Downey Jr. (who is basically the whitest American EVER) cast as an African American. Yeah…this movie has the makings of an amazing comedy, or a huge flop because of the offensive-ness of it all. I guess I just don’t know what to think.

I’m a sucker for dumb comedy movies, so I guess I’m looking forward to it, but my guess is that this will be on the top 100 list of ehem, illegal downloads, before the critic’s heads can spin. I guess we’ll see this summer. Tropical Thunder is set to release August 15, 2008 and it is pretty highly anticipated.

Ben Stiller has a lot of crap to make up for…we’ll see how he does.
