Confirmation!!!!!!!

Bioshock movie rumor has been confirmed!!!!!!!

It will be directed by Gore Verbinski, the same guy who did all the Pirates of the Caribbean movies (drool!) No release dates have been set yet, but the script is being written as we speak! OMG!!! (It’s taking all that I have to stop from jumping up and down!!) The game is one of the coolest games I’ve ever played. Verbinski says that the movie most likely will be rated “R” because he intends to wow the core audience (and I’d like to consider myself part of that core audience…I’m watching you Gore, I’m watching you). Perfect director choice for this project, I think. I’m waiting to be wowed…

Here’s the trailer for the GAME. It’s incredible, so  I can’t wait for the trailer for the movie!

There has been a lot of stuff floating around concerning Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA IV). In my opinion, unlike movies, video games are not only awesome, but necessary. GTA III was the coolest game. San Andreas rocked my socks. And no IV? It’s going to be EPIC.

Now, how does this pertain to movies you ask. Well, they’re saying that the April 29th release will take away from movie premiers and DVD releases.

Paramount-Marvel’s “Iron Man” opens May 2, only three days after the “GTA IV” bow. Though they’re targeting the same audience, most pundits feel players will take time out from their game to see the superhero film. But the ripple effect on other films throughout the summer could be a factor — and the effect on TV could be immediate. -Variety

Okay, so here’s my idea: “STOP MAKING MOVIES THAT SUCK!”

I’m sure the demographic plus some would rather play GTA IV-or any other game for that matter-than watch 27 Dresses or the Diving Bell and the Butterfly which are scheduled to be released the same week. I’m nearly positive that the release of GTA IV will NOT take away box offices sales for Iron Man which will be in theaters May 2nd. It looks awesome, by the way.

27 Dresses Trailor (released April 29th on DVD)

You be the judge.

AVPR…um, that’s one too many letters…

My friends, don’t be fooled like I was. There is some advertising for Alien Versus Predator: Requiem. You can even pre-order it! But don’t let these tactics get you! This movie was absolutely positively terrible. I watched it in the theaters this Christmas season (actually, I’m really surprised it took this long to come out on DVD…) and I was so disappointed.

I’ll admit it, I loved the first AVP regardless of its ill reviews. I thought it was a creative way to pull two movies together. There was a plot without the blood and guts. This is NOT the case for AVP: Requiem. Nothing about the cool tribal past, no human-predator relationships and sadly no Paul W.S. Anderson (who, by the way, directed the Resident Evil movies, Mortal Kombat and Event Horizon…basically what I’m saying is the man is a genius). AVP-Requiem is just a blood-bath (but barely) with the bare minimum of a plot.

Do yourself a favor and rent Juno instead…

The animation wars in my head.

10 04 2008

It’s safe to say, in my opinion anyway, that Dreamworks has far surpassed that of Disney/Pixar within the past few years. Remember, this is coming from a girl who dreamed of being the Disney princesses. I still cry after almost every single one, and I must leave the room when Mufasa takes a dive. Yes…that’s me. But recently, everything just seems to be falling flat from Disney.

Dreamworks has saved my taste for animation. Though I’m a doomcrier when it comes to sequels, and even worst, the trilogy, Shrek the Third was an epic movie and I think was the best of all three. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Bee Movie (I haven’t seen it myself yet, but it’s on my list of things to do). Over the Hedge was amazing and had a good message. And now we have Kung Fu Panda, in theaters June 6, 2008. At first glance, it looks ridiculously stupid, but after some consideration, I’ve decided it looks really funny. I especially love the spoof of Kill Bill music in one of the trailers. Jack Black is the voice for the Panda, a fat one at that. And who wouldn’t want to watch a cuddly fat panda (sorry, I just HAD to throw that link in there) do Kung Fu?

And what to we have to look forward to from Disney? Wall-E? I did say it looks cute and funny, which it does, and I haven’t changed my mind. And Cars 2? Maybe? Come on Disney, step your game up!

Pardon me while I barf…

10 04 2008

I’m not sure how true this one is, but it was listed as “In Production” on IMDB and their usually pretty good…
Jurassic Park IV I’m  not even kidding…promotionally known as JP4. It’s apparently set to release sometime in 2009. There are a ton of fan-made trailers, but nothing that I would believe for sure yet.

Really, I hope that this post is all bogus. Did anyone else see Jurassic Park III? Because it was not good. Does the studio want redemption? Maybe four is their lucky number? Puh-lease.

Stop. Just stop.

Disney’s at it again…

10 04 2008

Disney released plans on a few highly anticipated movies yesterday.

  • Wall-E June 27, 2008
This looks absolutely adorable. Sci-fi cartoons. Slapstick comedy. It just may be what I needed from Disney. Way to go guys.
  • Toy Story 3 June 18, 2010
As of right now, Tim Allen and Tom Hanks will return as Buzz and Woody (otherwise, I honeslty think it would be a waste of time to even write the script. I really did like Toy Story 2, so this movie has possible potential.
  • Cars 2. Summer 2012
I’m not sure how I feel about this. There isn’t a lot of stuff out there that sounds reliable to me, so we’ll see. Hopefully most of the original cast returns to this film as well.

And then there were three…

8 04 2008

FirstShowing broke news yesterday and revealed the teaser trailer for Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Of course I like the look of the trailer (but I can’t have much of a legitimate opinion because I haven’t seen the second movie, but I did love the first.) Following the tradition of the other two movies, the Ice Age 3 trailer features Scrat on his never-ending quest to save his acorn. It’s cute as a button and funny to boot. Ray Romano and Queen Latifah return to the cast and it is set to be in theaters July 1, 2009. I’m not jumping out of my seat in excitement or anything, but it looks interesting. And the movie poster is adorable. I got the picture at FirstShowing.net

Charlton Heston

6 04 2008

The world lost a great actor yesterday when Charlton Heston passed away. He played many epic roles, but the one I will always remember him in is in The Ten Commandments from 1956. It was directed by the legendary Cecil B. Demille who pioneered the world of film. I remember when I was a little girl my dad and I used to watch The Ten Commandments every Easter.

One of the reasons I love movies so much is because they almost seem to become a part of us. We feel like we know the characters. We root for the good guys and sneer at the bad guys. We watch them with our friends, our families and our loved ones. We go on dates to movies. We laugh at them, we cry during them and sometimes, depending on the movie, we say the lines along with them. They’re like a living breathing thing that pulses through the air waves. Whenever I watch The Ten Commandments, I’ll always think of my father and the times we have together. I know that Charlton Heston was also someone’s father and I am thinking of his family today. Thank you for everything you’ve done!

Heston was in tons of amazing movies. I’ll give you a few IMDB links to the ones that are most familiar to me:
Soylent Green (1973)
Anthony and Cleopatra (1972)
Ben Hur (1959)
Planet of the Apes (196 8)
and in over a hundered more movies, television shows, voice overs and cameos.

Special effects? Who needs ‘em.

4 04 2008

According to FirstShowing Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is going to have minimalist take on CGI and and effect shot (less than 30% is the Spielberg estimate…in fact, most of it, he says, is to remove safety wires and other things that didn’t belong in the shot) and very litte greenscreen to boot.

This gets me excited all over again because it’s going “back to it’s roots.” Not many cheesy explosions or ridiculous special effects. Awesome. Maybe it won’t be so bad after all…

And besides, Harrison Ford is hot, at any age…

Most excellent? I think not…

4 04 2008

Following in the path of Dumb and Dumberer (shudders and eye rolls to follow) in the way of ridiculous sequels that never should have happened, I found that a Bill and Ted remake has gotten a greenlight. I keep saying it, over and over, are we seriously that low on ideas? From this blurb on Moviehole.net there will be no Keanu Reeves or Alex Winter (original cast) and the band name will now be the Atomic Gorillas. Does anyone else want to vomit?

I mean seriously…
